Activities
Lots of fun to be had
Goat Milking
Each morning there are goats to milk and kids to play with

Cultural Activities
Degmo has a collection of genuine artefacts brought from the Somali region. We use these to demonstrate traditional rural skills, such as making Subaq (ghee) and Culay (fire cleaning) as well the sophisticated techniques used to make their milk containers.
In the evenings we light a fire in the main tents and there are talks about the history and culture of the Somali region illustrated with a unique archive of historical photographs.
Later, visitors like to organise their own drumming and dancing sessions, or play traditional Somali games, such as Shax

Working with Animals
Help us whilst we care for our sheep and cows. Learn about how we look after them and discover the differences and similarities between how animals are managed in the Somali region and the UK

Nature Walks & Foraging for Wild Berries
Explore the dramatic and unspoilt countryside whilst snacking on tasty wild berries such as raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries

Night Walk
Degmo has some the cleanest skies in the UK and, because there are so few houses and roads, on a clear night, the skies are alight with stars. We take you on a late-night adventure through the trees to the top of the farm where we lie on our backs to watch the stars and hear some of the stories that Somali nomads tell whilst living outside under the African skies.

Camp Fires & Dancing Under the Trees
Whilst parents relax with cups of tea, children can run freely up and down the grassy banks, or play football. Mothers can dance and sing. After dark, everyone can sit around a camp fire and sometimes we roast marshmallows or cook meat
